Washington SUN Bucks Summer EBT Program

Beginning in 2024, the state of Washington launched a new Summer EBT program called SUN Bucks. The program provides families with $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy food when school is out. ELIGIBILITYSome children will automatically be eligible for SUN Bucks, while others will need to apply. Students may be automatically eligible if they:

    • Are enrolled at a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program and qualifies through a Free and Reduced Price Meal application or Family Income Survey; or
    • Are age 8-18 and are a member of a household already receiving assistance program benefits (SNAP, TANF, FDPIR).

Students who do not qualify automatically can apply by contacting the SUN Bucks Contact Center at 1-833-543-3230 (TTY: 1-800-833-6348) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday - Friday (except observed holidays). Click here for more information on SUN Bucks.

National School Lunch and Breakfast Program

New for the 2024-25 school year, Jennings Elementary School students will receive meals at NO COST! Although meals are free for JES students, completing the free and reduced-price meal application is still required to ensure school funding for other state and federal programs.

Colfax Junior/Senior High School students will continue to qualify for meal benefits based on eligibility determined by submitting the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Benefit Education Application (formerly the Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits) or through the Direct Certification program.

We strongly encourage ALL families to complete a free and reduced-price meal application and a Consent to Share eligibility form. This not only determines a student's qualification for free or reduced-price meals but also provides additional benefits such as waived ASB participation fees. Additionally, certain state and federal programs are funded based on the district's free and reduced-price meal percentage. Without this information, the district could lose vital funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to.
