The Colfax School District is saddened to share the news of the passing of Don Cox. Don served as the Superintendent of the Colfax School District before going on to serve as a Washington State legislator from the late 1990s to the early 2000s.

Don was a champion for public education, dedicating his career to supporting students, teachers, and communities across Washington. He will be remembered as a kind and caring leader whose advocacy and commitment made a lasting impact on countless lives.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Don’s family and loved ones.

A special meeting of the Colfax School District Board of Directors will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 3 p.m. in the District Office Board Room. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the superintendent search process and personnel hires.
